Preventative

Oral health care, regular check-ups, cleaning and more

Adequate dental care is a method of preventative care that helps you maintain great oral health. We take notice of the overall health of your teeth and gums.

After reviewing your complete medical history to become well acquainted with your needs, we also perform oral cancer screenings and exam radiographs to see if any problems exist below the surface. We offer fluoride varnish and high fluoride toothpaste for additional preventative measures.

What to expect on the day of your exam

From babies to adolescents

On the day of your appointment Dr. Eggleston will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health and the hygienist will perform a dental prophylaxis. These procedures include:

  • Examining radiographs to diagnose conditions
  • Checking gingival tissues and bone for health
  • Close examination of restorations to check for defects/wear
  • Removal of plaque and tartar from teeth and gum line
  • Removal of stains and plaque build-up
  • Examining teeth for signs of decay
  • Screening for oral cancer

Digital Radiographs

Dental care for the children

This routine procedure captures what is occurring under the surface of your dental health. Using a sensor, digital images are captured and stored instantly in our computer system. These images will help the dentist to diagnose the best treatment for your individual oral hygiene.

Dental X-Rays

From babies to adolescents

Like digital x-rays, dental x-rays help detect what is going on in areas that cannot be seen with the eye alone. This type of x-ray captures radiographs of a patient’s teeth. It is recommended to get dental x-rays twice a year for diagnosis of any issues and for preventative future care.

Radiographs may detect the following:

From babies to adolescents

  • Cysts
  • Bone loss
  • Tumors
  • Decay between the teeth
  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Poor tooth and root positions
  • Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

We offer you personalized care and listen to your questions about your dental health.
